Peco Bag

“The idea behind Peco Bag was born after a building frustration over witnessing the carelessness of groceries being packed into single use plastic bags at checkout registers. My butter in one plastic bag? My eggs in its own separate bag? I knew then and there it wasn’t something I could consciously ignore and I wanted to encourage a change. I wanted to educate people on the harmful effects of single use plastic polluting our environment and create a solution that was convenient enough to change their ways. I noticed that the reusable bags sold at supermarkets were bulky, ugly and inconvenient to carry around unless it was living in the boot of your car. Branded tote bags given away for free at events often ended up in bins further adding to pollution in landfills. I designed a reusable bag that was foldable into its own pouch the size of your hand, made from a textile that was created by regenerated waste into fabric and designed with style in mind, with prints that make you proud to wear out. I tested and trialled the sample bag for over a year and became the first advocate of Peco Bag. A reusable bag that truly defines useful, convenience and eco friendly. I hope everyone can change one small habit at a time to help combat the war against single use plastic. The planet needs our efforts in conscious changes to move into a more sustainable future. So with one change in habit at a time, we can start to change the future of our world.” - Yumika Hoskin
